OUR CLASSROOMS
While its natural to turn to “big schools” once your child turns 3 or 4 years of age, recent research has suggested that a nursery setting can be much more beneficial than a formal school environment.
In a nursery setting children drive their own learning which is a fundamental for turning them into life-long learners. They’re also in smaller classroom environments, with more flexible hours that suit parents needs and under specialized care from early childhood experts. We focus on a child’s overall development and are confident that this provides the best transition and progression later in life.
A Little About our Curriculum
The focus of the UK based, EYFS curriculum in FS1 is predominantly the three prime areas:
1) Personal, social and emotional development
2) Communication and language skills
3) Physical development, including fine motor practice to ensure little fingers are ready to pick up a pencil and write.
With support on the 4 specific areas:
4) Literacy
5) Mathematics
6) Understanding of the World
7) Expressive Arts and Design. Children
In FS1 children also start our UK Letters and Sounds phonics programme in which they learn listening and sound discrimination key skills and linking letters to their associated sound and are introduced to phonics through the Read, Write, Inc. program. This helps set them up to read and write in FS2.
Foundation Stage 2
In FS2 children are taught to blend and how to read through our phonics programme: Read, Write, Inc. and by the end of their FS2 journey, children are supported to independently read and write phonetically. Furthermore, in FS2 children are using numbers to 20 confidently and can talk about the world they live in and know that there are different environments in the world. The EYFS curriculum at Creative Nest Nursery is designed to promote the Characteristics of Effective Learning by promoting a child’s autonomy, independence, and individualism.
Throughout their FS2 journey, practitioners observe and asses each child in order to understand any progress and/or needs. Ongoing assessment and observations take place throughout the year and inform practitioners and parents of a child's level of achievement and interests. These assessments are then used to shape teaching and learning experiences for each child.
Children leaving Creative Nest Early Childhood Centre for Year 1 will be given a copy of the child’s profile report which includes copies of their baseline assessment, formative assessments, observations, and any other documentations made that will then form the basis of their education plan for Year 1.
We are so excited to have you on board!
